i do a 23,000 user isp with about 600,000 connections per day. half of those are dropped by rbl. - 3 MTA's. Dual 1ghz P3 IBM Netservers, RAID5, 1gig RAM - 2 SPAMD boxes. P4 2.4ghz 7200rpm 40gig disks, 512mb ram. spamd max children set to 20 on each (40 concurrent spamd scans can occur) the 3 mta's take the smtp connections, handle the drops via rbl and whatever else (badmailpatterns, etc), and the mail that makes it into the queue hit QS, which calls mcafee uvscan cml, and then calls spamc, which actually processes on the spamd boxes. there is a 8 second timeout on the spamc call on the 3 mta's, so failure to return something quickly will cause it not to score, which will prevent concurrencies from filling up if spamd1 and spamd2 get bogged down for whatever reason. 8 seconds with network tests, could probably set to 2 or 3 seconds without. with network tests enabled, my concurrencies sit at about 80% (120 of 150). without network tests (exlude rbl), concurrencies run about 60%. concurrencies seldom hit their max, if they do, there is little or no delay for grabbing an smtp banner. the loads on the 3 MTA's stay very very low 0.10 to 0.20 avg, and peaks of 0.75. the loads on spamd1 and spamd2 run 0.75 to 1.0 with peaks of around 2.5. so i have 150 incoming concurrency, and 60 spamd children... grepping my maillog, i see 20 of 20 children reached on each server only a couple times a day. dallas ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Qmail-scanner-general mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/qmail-scanner-general
