Hi,

Just installed Qmail-Scanner (on RH 8 system) but it appears not to be
running. I had a few probs with the permissions (couldn't setuid) but I
used the qmail-scanner-queue.c in the contrib directory to solve this
and it all appears to be ok apart from not blocking the
test_installation.sh emails. I can su to qmaild and run
"qmail-scanner-queue.pl -g" although I do get the "incorrect format on
line 82 - skipped" error but from reading the archives of this mailing
list, it doesn't seem anything to worry about. If I run
"qmail-scanner-queue" (the compiled .c) as qmaild or as root I get a lot
of permission denied errors for removing files and directories even
though if I manually try and perform these tasks it works - didn't know
if this was anything to be concerned about because
qmail-scanner-queue.pl works fine?

My /etc/tcp.smtp has been set to the following:

127.:allow,RELAYCLIENT="",QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue
"
192.168.13.:allow,RELAYCLIENT="",QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanne
r-queue"

Before and during running the test_installation.sh script I logged all
the processes to a file and grep'd this for qmail-scanner-queue but no
mention of it is found :-( Nothing in any of the qmail-scanner logs or
clam logs. Qmail logs show the test emails coming in and going out but
no mention of the scanner. Interestingly I don't get the 4th test email
(the spam one) although I'm not running SpamAssassin!?!

It seems to me that the qmail-scanner isn't getting called so I'm
wondering if I've installed the QMAILQUEUE patch correctly. Any ideas
on how to check this?

Many thanks,

Matt.
