It is a trial and error process. Start out with 7MB and work up from that. The amount of memory that you will use does not depend on the number of mailboxes but your OS and the amount of memory that perl and your virus-scanner take when running. My system is Solaris 8 x86, perl 5.005_03, and Sophos AV scanner (running sophie daemon) which needs about 9MB. I have set my softlimit to 10MB just to be safe.
