Having recently come back to QGIS after not using it for several years, I'm unable to get to a problem with new shapefiles that I try to create.
I'm using 3.34.0 but have tried 3.40.1 with the same results. I've been investigating for a while and tried to simplify. I create a simple test file (point, line or polygon) and it is at the top of the Layers list so should always display above the other layers - scale dependent visibility isn't selected. If I display labels for the layer they display as expected, If I try Symbology however the text continues to display correctly (i.e. over all the other layers) but the symbol is displayed many layers lower so is invisible unless those layers are disabled. Something is going on that is well beyond my skill level! Andrew Chapman
