It would be very helpful if the Mac download file names included the version info.
For example:
 "qgis-macos_3_34_7-ltr.dmg"   instead of just "qgis-macos-ltr.dmg"

As currently named the only way to determine the version is to download the entire .dmg. Not a problem for those with high bandwidth connections, but a 2 hour download for those of us still on DSL.

After being prompted by QGIS' "there is a newer version" message, I have often downloaded what was described on the website as the latest version only to discover it was not.
