I found a shapefile of WVa counties with

This is the data I am using.
I set the symbology to color each county
by name, and the county names then appear in the Layers
panel.
I am having trouble with this.
It's "Symbology" (not styles). I the
Symbology tab, choose at the very top "Categorized" (instead of
Single Symbol), then select the "COUNTY" attribute column for
categories.
You'll find this explained in the QGIS
Documentation, here:
https://docs.qgis.org/3.16/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/vector_properties.html?highlight=categorized#categorized-renderer
When I highlight the
layer and right click there is no "Styling" option available.
There is a "Styles" option which is opens a color wheel of
sorts.
If I choose "Properties" I see nothing called "Styling" listed.
I downloaded the manual (QGIS-3.16-DesktopUserGuide-en.pdf)
but could not find specific instructions.
Thanks,

Greetings,
I have a state county outline layer in a project and wish to
be able to see a list of the county names in the Layers
column.
I looked through the options for the Layers Properties and
also went through the menus but I saw nothing obvious.
How might I accomplish this?
Thanks,
WV-Mike
