Hi QGIS, I have been researching for two days now and not sure if this achievable, but is it possible to only show points for the corresponding labels that are showing? I have a rule based labeling structure for a layer. I want to only show points for those labels showing. I found this post from two years ago: https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/217067/showing-only-point-markers-when-labels-are-shown-in-qgis suggesting it was not possible. I was hoping this was may have been addressed in QGIS 3.0 or perhaps this is some programmatic solution I am missing. Attached is screen shot of the issue. Too many points for the labels.
