Hi, I made a few tests and, it works well for vector layer. All you need is the right coverage layer, a top rule in all layers that you need to controlo. Like you said, Yhis does not work for raster layer, neither it work for vector renderers like ppint displacement or heatmap.
Also using legend filter, one can also adapt the maps legend.
