Hi Bob,
I haven't really followed the discussion on the GPS use with QGIS.
I just saw it this morning again and thought I may give it a try. I am
using a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx and QGIS 1.7.1 on a Mac.
My first couple of trials weren't successful until I actually chose the
usb: port instead of anything else that is displayed under 'Port'. Silly
me...
It works without problem. Got all way points, tracks and routes of the GPS.
Don't know if that is helpful
Cheers,
Harald

I'm still not able to run qgis with my garmin 60Csx on the USB port. With
the Qt-based GIS qlandkarte I'm able to use my GPS thanks to
qlandkarte's Garmin GPS driver (

Could this be used in QGIS?
I have been using QGis and OpenJUMP with a gratis (not open source) GPSGate
client http://gpsgate.com/ with Garmin eTrex Vista through USB port on Windows
and it has been very reliable.
