So What changed?I don't knowMaybe try the original Irish Grid 29902 coordinates but remove everything after the decimal point. In other words use integer X-Y values. (You probably don't need precision down to 50 cm. anyway)Yes I tried this... but QGIS still crashes.
( cc'ed to the qgis-user list...) So just to summarize: You have QGIS 1.4.0 on Mac OSX 10.5.8.You import a text file with the delimited text plugin and X-Y coordinates in Lat-Lon, then export to shapefile, choosing EPSG:4326 as the CRS. This works OK. Then you import a second text file where the X-Y coords are in the Irish Grid, and you try to export to a shapefile, choosing the EPSG:29902 CRS and QGIS crashes.
It that about right?

Next step I guess is to approach William Kyngsburye, http://www.kyngchaos.com/, maintainer of the Mac OSX binaries, and ask if he can locate the problem. (I'm assuming you installed his frameworks and binaries.)Hi Micha,Thanks for your response, I have provided a small subset of my data below.... 'X' is entered the X field and 'Y' is entered in the Y field when creating a layer from a delimited text file After entering the data I click on "layers" option and choose "save as shape file" and i click on the Irish Grid reference "ESPG ID 29902". Then QGIS automatically shuts downHave you tried with Lon-Lat coordinates in EPSG:4326? Do you get the same shutdown of QGIS?Record Number,Route,Y,X 54562,4,235289.75,298363.91 54567,4,242287.45,273695.29 54591,4,240706.36,277593.04 54603,4,268483.87,230911.12 54707,4,248367.24,254769.44 55011,4,235016.26,308622.46 55058,4,318101.7,172630 55072,4,264368.56,235140.42 55073,4,268828.35,230494.01 55226,4,234914.83,308904.78 55229,4,235242.19,307630.42 55259,4,235060.93,308406.24 55278,4,245564.1,259476.11 55282,4,330001.05,166989.79 55283,4,320347.41,170992.77 55474,4,284479.03,179568.41 55705,4,325052.42,168305.89 55706,4,328483.64,167241.22 56692,4,317038.33,173459.75 56693,4,318286.25,172475.79 56751,4,248840.76,253815.96 56752,4,245508.53,259549.66 56758,4,268658.12,230704.41 On 9 Mar 2010, at 14:03, Micha Silver wrote:On 09/03/2010 14:06, Erica Donnelly-Swift wrote:In order to isolate the problem (Mac OS or the data) would you mind to supply a subset of your data so we can test on other platforms?Hi all,I am having difficulty saving point data as a shapefile ....
