gdbstub in qemu2.12 for riscv

Anyone knows how to let gdbstub in qemu2.12 work for riscv?
I have to use qemu2.12 due to android emu use it.
for arm, gdbstub can be connected to debug kernel.
however for riscv, it didn't work.
what update I need to do ?
