This is awesome! I'm worried how well it will scale down though. If you
do the "emu" part on the right side, vertically, between the bottom of
its head and top of its foot, you can shrink the Q part a bit to make
the emu's body more proportional and leave more space for the "emu" text
on the right.
Or maybe not include the text at all. After all, there is already an emu
in the icon even when there is no text.

True...larger desktop icons will tend to have the text underneath, and
for taskbar/url icons there's probably no way to make the "emu" text
readable...
Plus, if it's just a Q icon you can make a nice big website logo for
qemu.org using the logo in place of "Q" in "QEMU".
