I had this same question. I'm not sure why it wasn't added to the mainline qemu.git. In any case, you can get the commits and tag from git:// git.qemu.org/qemu-stable-1.4.git (git remote add stable-1.4 git:// git.qemu.org/qemu-stable-1.4.git && git fetch stable-1.4).
