In FreeDos for example, all of the regular keys work, but when I
press the shift key it inputs the letter 'a' and again the letter

I have had this problem in the past and fixed it by applying the
patch, but I cannot get it working with 0.9.0. I must be missing
something obvious.

Do I feel foolish - it was working all along - just not using Apple's
Remote Desktop!
I forgot that the keymapping does not work properly over Remote
Desktop...
All's well that ends well.
