Ah, scsi-blk uses scsi_generic_req_ops for INQUIRY commands. It comes down to whether scsi-block handles all commands that transfer logical blocks (READ/WRITE/etc) without issuing the SG_IO ioctl, then it's safe to increase the Optimal and Maximum Transfer Length fields to the same value as scsi-disk. It's possible that a vendor-specific command transfers logical blocks and honors Maximum Transfer Length, so then it would not be safe to make this change. But I'm not sure... Stefan
