In my case, the hang was during boot even though it magically went away sometimes in the last month > I'm not sure whether Charles is hitting the same problem. While trying to figure out what was going on with the bug above, I've definitely hit a "enabling/disabling vioserial in the device manager 3 times causes the VM to freeze" bug. For what it's worth, lately I've also been experiencing VM freezes when installing vioserial in winxp or win7 UP VMs Christophe
