--- Comment #14 from Matthias Andree <[email protected]> ---
(In reply to Charlie Li from comment #11)
it's about time we make the project's ports section honest and stop pretending
there were security support for older Python versions.

I don't care if you want to put 3.12 on life support, we should pull the plug
on old branches sooner rather than later because python@ quite obviously cannot
maintain five and a half branches (3.13t counted half), and you can't even
figure out that what you claim was a fix in the latest 3.12 release (3.12.12,
made in October 2025) - it was merged two weeks ago and IS NOT in 3.12.12.

Stop lying to the public.

And please don't waste anyone's time making a two-year old release on a
so-called "security support" the default that failed to deliver the required
3.12.13 release in four weeks. We should kill 3.12 and older and make 3.13 or
3.14 the default. There's quite a bit of stuff that works with 3.13 but not
3.13t (some of them because that non-numeric "t" breaks the
self-configuration).

We need to move to a version that receives bugfix support (i.e. 3.13 or 3.14)
else we won't see things that might have broken on FreeBSD supported.
