Re SICP/functional -- very much agree Harry. (Keep feeling/hearing the siren call of functional programming lately...) I'd like to add that there's a course on Coursera that uses Scala as the teaching language and that uses SICP (amongst one or 2 others) as reference: https://www.coursera.org/course/progfun I expect it should run again in April or so and am intending to sit it when it's up next, would be nice to have someone else from a known context do it as well so one could likewise discuss things etc. (Maybe one could attempt the assignments in this course in both Scala & Clojure to enhance the learning experience.) Anyway, hope you've all had a very good Christmas and wishing you all the best for the new year! Walter
