The official Python tutorial itself is pretty great. I learned the language (fresh out of Uni having studied Java) solely from it:
http://docs.python.org/2/tutorial/ For completely beginner programmers it perhaps skips over a few things that wouldn't be obvious, but for experienced coders I don't see any problem with it.
