Folks, Yes, I realise the significance of the date - but this is no joke (despite being sorely tempted to announce the event as the first London Assembly Dojo)...
Sign-up here: http://ldnpydojo.eventwax.com/8th-london-python-code-dojo Last time we added game state and in-game objects to our continuing project of creating an old-skool style text adventure game. Several "teams" added extra “features” such as a chat bot and “monsters” (!?). The code can be found here:http://github.com/ntoll/code-dojo/tree/master/adventure/week3/. At the end of the last dojo the group decided to “bless” only one of the solutions so we avoid another tedious “refactoring” dojo. I’ll also attempt to use Holger’s branch to merge in “monsters” and prepare a ready-to-go area in the repos for our next task… Everyone seemed to like the small group / show-and-tell style so we’ll do the same thing again. Problems we might want to tackle include: a command parser that doesn’t suck (bye-bye CMD), NPCs/AI (monsters), authoring tools (Hello Bruce and John), turning it into a MUD (and so the list goes on…) Photos from all the dojos so far can be found here: http://divvyshot.com/event/IsJtx/ (a photo sharing site built w/Python) Free pizza and beer will be provided. (Thanks Fry-IT) Participants get the chance to win a cool book (thanks O’Reilly – poor old Josette was ill – hence the silence about the last dojo). It'll take place at the usual time in the usual place. Remember to bring a laptop with Python and GIT installed (actually, shouldn't we be using Mercurial..?) Looking forward to it, Nicholas. _______________________________________________ python-uk mailing list python-uk@python.org http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-uk
