I just gave it a go. From download to completing the 20 minute wiki, the timestamps on my filesystem say 30 minutes - I guess I read/type slow ;-) FWIW, I went to the RoR talk at Euro OSCON, and as far as I can tell (having now done the tutorial), they really are more or less equivalent. I'd definitely give it a go if I were you. I might have a bit more of a play between now and the Python Meetup Manchester[1] (hint, hint ;-) .
