yes, it's something done on the client side. And I think DB-Library does exist on Linux because Pymssql depends on it and Pymssql is cross-platform: "pymssql 0.7.4 has been tested on FreeBSD 6.0, NetBSD 2.1, 3.0, Linux with kernel 2.6, and Windows XP.
