In XP, it is called a Command Prompt (window). You can get one without Python by looking under All Programs / Accessories. It is similar to the Win 9X 'Dos Window'. But has a much bigger scrollback capacity. But I now use IDLE which has a Python Shell window that simulates the Command Prompt window but is much easier to cut from (to paste into postings, for instance).
