Hi all

C:\Users\E7280>python
Python 3.9.7 (tags/v3.9.7:1016ef3, Aug 30 2021, 20:19:38) [MSC v.1929 64 bit (AMD64)] on win32

>>> x = list(range(10))

'1'
>>>
>>> '{x[-1]}'.format(**vars())
Traceback (most recent call last):

Can anyone explain this error? It seems that a negative index is deemed to be a string in this case.

Thanks
