Also, they are probably written by people who are trained technical writers which has to help at least a bit... writing good documentation is hard. Whether the Python documentation is good or bad depends on what you're comparing it to. It's probably not as good, say, as Apple's documentation for Cocoa, but it could certainly be much, much worse.
