Whereas I am on wheezy, 32 bit pae, using TDE as a desktop, with kmail-1.9-10-enterprise, using a 14 point unifont for the message body display. Its a nice clear, very readable font for these elderly eyes. I just tried several of the more std fonts w/o affecting the display of the rectangles you see above. Hence the question and thread noise. Apparently, and despite being set for utf-8, I don't have a font capable of displaying this string in its entirety as I've just tried a couple dozen more.
