Yes, but that's not an *automatic* coercion. To count as weakly typed, the compiler has to do it automatically, without an explicit cast or conversion. I understand well that many people criticise C for making it too easy for the programmer to violate type-safety (or even for allowing it *at all*), but that's an orthogonal issue -- and probably essential for a systems language.
