terminal.  Just about all of the best devs I know use the terminal.

I think you're falling foul of Deborah's inability to communicate again. I think she meant to say that the console is dumb, not dead. In a very strict sense that's almost true, but since we've been using "console" interchangeably with "terminal emulator" throughout this discussion, it's hilariously wrong.
