Err, joined the list is what I meant. At any given time, there are a certain number of active threads; anyone who joins the list will get the posts since joining but not the ones prior, for which they'll have to dig around elsewhere. Since netiquette recommends that posts quote enough of the prior posts to provide context, this shouldn't be a major problem, but there is a bit of advantage to news here.
