Good old rcs would be fine. It is oldfashioned, so you need only
4 commands, compared to a bewildering display of icons.

mkdir RCS
ci *
rcs -NSTABLE1: RCS/*

Backup by
tar cf /media/MYSTICK/project.tar RCS
