Sprinkle a few print statements in your code to see what is happening. Instead you use self._user_search_path and self._chosen_module. The latter one is always '', never changed to anything else. So it is not surprising that the module is not found. In print_module you have the same kind of confusion. Do you think that magically self._chosen_module gets the value of _chosen_module? Is that you idea of `private variables'?
