Create a thin layer that brokers Python requests through to the Ruby interface for SketchUp. Gain support for this approach. Prove how many people are interested in using the Python aspect. Show you're not expecting someone else to bear all the effort. Do something more constructive than post wishful fantasies and snide cutdowns to a mailing list.
