Which is more geared toward beginners. Although I am subscribed to both lists, and they are both matched by the same filter for me so I wont know the difference... But there may be people who are not subscribed to both lists and don't care to listen to beginner discussions. I wouldn't know. There is python irc as well: #python on irc.freenode.net. If you just have a quick question you may be better off trying there first.
