As Tim already noted, your laptop apparently uses Trident CyberBlade Ai1 graphics card, which is quite old and designed for DirectX 6-8. This is not a problem if the device driver is up to date, but the newest I found seems to be from 2003. This can be a problem if it does not correctly support DirectX 9.0c (released in 2004). You should see what the DirectX diagnostics tool says (dxdiag.exe - found in WINDIR\system32) and possibly update the driver.
