We totally agree with your software engineering goals. Relying on wxPython and minimizing web reliance brings sanity to the enterprise. We too love PostgreSQL and avoid XML whether cleaned by SOAP at all costs. We have found the object-relationship managers to be bloated and unruly. What are you building and how many hours per month are you willing to spend supporting it?
