I think a lot depends on your experience with other programming languages. If you are new to Python, but not to programming, I'd definitely go for "Python in a nutshell". To the point, loaded with information, and a great resource. And I'd get "Python pocket reference", which might be, for long periods, the only thing you need to open. If you do not have a lot of programming experience, you might want to look at "How to think like a computer scientist", "A byte of Python" (both freely available over the net), and then go for "Core Python Programming". > > > > Beginning Python: From Novice to Professional by Magnus Lie Hetland > Core Python Programming (2nd Edition) by Wesley Chun > > There are plenty of "Free" online ones as well. > > HTH > > Robert > > -- > http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list > -- Ramon Diaz-Uriarte Statistical Computing Team Structural Biology and Biocomputing Programme Spanish National Cancer Centre (CNIO) http://ligarto.org/rdiaz -- http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list
