This book is due to be published any day now:
"Introduction to computing and programming with Python: A Multimedia Approach" by Mark Guzdial, a CS professor at Georgia Tech.


It uses the Jython Environment for Students (JES). It is completely free and open source. You can use it for example to work with and manipulate images or sounds.
