You'll need wxPython. Once you get that, look in the samples for pySketch. This is a very straightforward program that helped me learn a lot about GUI with wxPython. Pretty easy to do. Once you get a hang for the basics, then you might be interested in wxGlade, an interactive GUI designer. wxGlade is more advanced than you need for your request.
