Xuanji Li <xua...@gmail.com> added the comment: Hello, sorry for commenting on a closed issue... but I think the documentation change is incorrect. In urllib.request.rst, it says data is a string. However as seen in the changes to test_urllib2.py, data must be a bytes object rather than a string object. I think we should reopen this issue and change the documentation.
