Thank you. Wrt to your initial suggestion, I recognise Python's popularity will make things busy, and I will ask if anyone knows of a workaround in other fora, but a bug's a bug and, IMO, if something behaves differently on different platforms, using packages that are part of the Python install, for no apparent reason, then that's a bug!
