"Changed in version 3.3: This module will use a fast implementation whenever available. The xml.etree.cElementTree module is deprecated." https://docs.python.org/3/library/xml.etree.elementtree.html But as I said, people don't read docs. I agree that it's best to keep the module "for now", and maybe leave it to IDEs and code checkers to spread the deprecation notice for us.
