> some vendors like to leave out the tests and not having them all under 'test' > prevents that from working cleanly Yeah, but presumably all the major distributors have long ago figured out how to do this (it's not *that* hard) and, by moving the tests now, would actually make work for them :) (Granted, that's also not that hard) Losing the history of a bunch of files would be a much more serious concern, IMHO.
