Because this reduces the number of people which can notice your comment. Active core developers receive too much messages. Currently I have 473 unread messages from b.p.o (out of 22425) and 299 unread messages from GitHub (out of 20476). And this is only for open and recently closed issues (messages for closed issues are manually moved to other folders).
