Apple's decision to support or not support their products is driven by Apple's 
business considerations and is not binding on anyone else.  Many people 
continue to use earlier versions because of dependence on applications which do 
not run on later versions and/or because later versions do not offer sufficient 
benefits to justify the cost of upgrading.  I don't know on what basis the 
Python organization makes these decisions but I hope it is more than simply 
following Apple's decisions.
