The existing implementation supports doing an SSL handshake using STARTTLS, which provides encryption for the actual email traffic. You are asking, it seems, to support a server that only listens on an already encrypted connection, and doesn't use STARTTLS. That would, in my book, be an *enhancement request* and not a bug.
