The crash can also be reproduced with a Spanish keyboard selected and using the Tcl/Tk wish shell edit text demo. So it's definitely not a Python (tkinter or IDLE) issue. I see that Kevin Walzer, the primary maintainer for Tk on macOS, is CC here.
