Eric V. Smith <e...@trueblade.com> added the comment: I'd bring it up on python-ideas, and point the discussion to this issue. I think the primary complain will be using non-ASCII characters in a function that normally doesn't return non-ASCII. But maybe people will be willing to accept it.
