Antoine Pitrou <pit...@free.fr> added the comment: It is also possible to uncommit the memory without deallocating it, making reuse potentially faster, but that requires low-level platform-specific code (e.g. madvise(MADV_DONTNEED) on Linux or DiscardVirtualMemory() on Windows).
