Completely removing the block starting with if (why == WHY_EXCEPTION && !throwflag) { corrects the script; but according to Benjamin: """removing those lines causes a RuntimeError about exceeding the recursion limit for about 1/3 of the tests.""" So a better fix must be found. At least we have the unit test :-).
