STINNER Victor added the comment: Oh... I only tested my configure patch on Linux using ./configure CC=clang, but the change has no effect on FreeBSD where $CC is /usr/bin/cc and so my code doesn't detect clang correctly.
I proposed https://github.com/python/cpython/pull/1233 which runs "cc --version" to check if it contains clang.
